Boa tarde

Tudo bem?

Typical, that the only alternative for Saab drivers is a Volvo or a Mercedes (when they need to)
Like me, there are not many affordable LPG converted Saabs for sale now that are ALSO automatic.
So I shifted my search to V70's, 850's and Mercedes C and E-classs. Unfortunately the road tax is undoable here for a Mercedes E-class diesel. And Mercedes on LPG. Yes they are there, but of course, if you drive Mercedes, it's a diesel.

And now a question about LPG. I read on a Portuguese car forum, I don't remember if it was here, that there are not many Vialle dealers in PORTUGAL.
Vialle is a Dutch make, so you can guess what's used here the most.
What are the most common makes for LPG-installations in PORTUGAL. Then I mean of course the make of the LPG-system. Not the car make

Obrigado
Daniël

Hello :)

Vialle entered now in PORTUGAL with direct injection systems. I readed a little bad feedbacks about it, so i chosse another dealler (OMVL - Italian).

In PORTUGAL the most commun are Brc, Prins, Lovato.

Typical, that the only alternative for SAAB drivers is a Volvo. DOT...END...

HA HA HA :D :D :D :D

You're most probably referring to the problems with the pump of Vialle LPI systems. As far as I know that problem is over with the current systems. And here there are people that can replace the pump for about 240 euros. On location. And not the 1000 euros Vialle charges for the same problem. Because I will buy my car here before I move there I will most probably end up with Vialle LPI. Most common in Saabs and Volvo's. But we have Prins (which I believe is Dutch, too), BRC, NECAM and Vogels/Landi here as well.

Yup, Prins is Dutch.

I was reading about Vialle in November 2013 and i choose to go in another direction :P
maybe now is better :)
I mayde allready more then 30.000 kms with my OMVH kit since i installed it in November on my 9-3ss aero cabrio :P

See if is not better to buy here and pay here the taxes...

Here you must pay:
- Circulation Tax: IUC - +/- 136€ for a 2004 2.0 turbo
- Ensurance: +/- 200€
- car MOT: +/- 30€ year

Now I can't find an LPG converted SAAB 9000 here (here=The Netherlands) and automatic for a reasonable price.
So it could well be another make. Think about V70 classic or Mercedes E-class combi (W210 for the insiders).

If you want to have a car in PORTUGAL, don't buy one in the Netherlands, the cost to legalize it in PORTUGAL is way to expensive and the yearly tax to you will end up paying is equal to a new car.

Yearly Tax examples
Portuguese 9000 (2.0 or 2.3) till 1995 - ~70€
Portuguese 9000 (2.0 or 2.3) from 1996 on - ~140€
Portuguese 9000 (3.0 V6) till 1995 - ~140€
Portuguese 9000 (3.0 V6) from 1996 on - ~255€
Dutch 9000 legalized in PORTUGAL (2.0 or 2.3) any year - ~350€
Dutch 9000 legalized in PORTUGAL (3.0 V6) any year - ~800€

The cost for legalizing it will be compensated by the much cheaper second hand buying prices here in The Netherland.
As a EU-citizen I will be exempted from ISV (If I had the car in my name on the Dutch registration for MORE THAN a year)
A 9-3 2.2 ttid (old model) you can buy here for 300 euros (three hundred). A petrol (non-turbo) for 500 euros and LPG for 1000 euros. Then you have one between 1998-2001 with 300000 kms (which is peanuts for the average SAAB) on the clock.
Second I will need to have a car to move. As long as I am officially living in NL I am required to have a Dutch registration on my car.
And living in two countries at the same time officially is not possible, as you have to prove you cancelled your personal registration  (not your car's) in the municipality (in my case Terneuzen) you used to live in.
I read on Dutch PORTUGAL forum, it's not that hard to get Portuguese plates for a Dutch car, besides that IMTT can be a bit slow.
Second there is an insurance company (car/house) in PORTUGAL that has Dutch people on their payroll and they also provide help with importing a car as personal belongings (or whatever its called to get ISV exemption).
I already asked them what a car insurance would cost with my ex-9000 as an example. That would be 300 euros per year for third party, animal collisions and  damage by weather influences (I got hail damage on my last 9000 and that was a very good looking car before that, so now I get my cars in a more extended insurance, I only pay 5 euros extra per month for that. Unfortunately my 9000 was only third-party insured  :'(
BTW. I don't want a 9-3 ttid, because you only have them in manuals.
Oh road tax (IUC) for a SAAB 9000 here (petrol): € 744 per annum. LPG (we have two LPG categories G2 and G3, you get rebate for G3 on your ICC) G3=€ 1088per annum , diesel (9-3's) € 1440 per annum. As I explained before our IUC is based on the fuel kind AND the WEIGHT of the car. Cilynder content or CO2 emission doen't matter.

According to this table   Para visualizar hiperligações por favor faça LogIn the SAAB 9000 I had (it was a 2.3i, petrol) would be taxed with € 112,89 + € 187,97 (I believe CO2-emission was 249 g/kms) =  € 300,86. That's still a lot cheaper than here.
The only bad thing is that Finanças will base IUC on first Portuguese registration and not on first original foreign registration. So I will have to use the post 2007 table.

E agora? Agora quero um café, per favor  :)|

I can see two problems about cars imortation in PORTUGAL.... and they are bigger if the car is "old"...

- registation taxes
- circulation taxes

For my 2.0 turbo 1988 i pay 36€/year, for my 2.0 turbo 1994 i pay 76€/year... if i bought it outside i would pay a lot, lot, lot more, more then 300€/ year... so... it would be very expensive to mantain because the car value is very low...
If you are talking about a recent model... ok... if you are talking about a older moldel... maybe is better to buy it here and save the tax registation and the big circulation tax...
Maybe you pay a little more, but you save even more than what you lose...

but... it depends a lot about fuel, year, engine...

Well actually I was asking that :D. To avoid confusion I will ask it in English. How do I know which are the best suburbs near Coimbra city. And then I mean there where criminality rates are low and you don't have to look over your shoulder. In the town where I live now you shouldn't live downtown. So I guess Portuguese cities have this problem as well.

On the Northern part of PORTUGAL they normally tend to change the "B" by the "V" when talking....

Mas que conbersa bem a ser essa carago???

On the southern part of PORTUGAL they normally tend to be graceful
